Tyler Andrews is a pro runner for HOKA and a coach for and founder of Chaski. Over the past few years, Ty has established himself as one of the best high mountain trail-runners in the world, with records on the Everest Base Camp Trail, Cotopaxi Volcano, Ojos del Salado Volcano, and many more 20,000+ ft (6000m+) peaks. In 2021, he began the “Los 10” Project - an attempt to set 10 records on mountains and trails in the Andes. He planned to finish the project with the 10th record on Mt. Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the Americas at 6,962m, and the most competitive record he’d ever attempted. Tyler Andrews (Ty) is a professional runner for HOKA and the founder and CEO of Chaski. On December 13th, he set a new world record on Cotopaxi Volcano 19,333 ft of 1'36'36 (Refuge - Summit - Refuge). Ty has been going back-and-forth with legendary speed climber Karl Egloff as the two have each brought this particular record down (even having tied at 1 hour, 37 minutes) multiple times in the last year. Ty's ascent comes just a month before his attempt on the Mt. Aconcagua record.

Chaski Coach Emily Schimtz specializes on trail, ultra-trail, and mountain running. Also, she's into altitude adaptation, yoga (for inflexible people and runners), photography, 6 years experience working with a small NGO in South America. Tyler Andrews is the founder of and coach for Chaski as well as a professional runner for HOKA. On August 21st 2021, he ran his first 100 mile race at the Leadville 100 in Leadville, Colorado (altitude 10,200 ft.), part of the “Grand Slam of Ultra Running,” the 5 most competitive races in the USA. With eyes set on finishing first, Ty struggled over the last 35 miles to finish 16th in 21 hours, 35 minutes. He recaps the race, including what went well and what went wrong, in the write-up below. Chase Smith is a Chaski Athlete coached by Coach Kris Brown. He was a former Commercial Credit Associate Underwriter for Bank of America. He's currently taking his Masters' Degree of Business Administration (MBA) program at Bentley University with a focus on leadership. Chase's passion for running led him to victory on his first race after a long time.

Critical Velocity or CV training was initially noted in 1960s research as being the highest intensity of exercise one could exert indefinitely without fatigue. This definition has changed several times over the last sixty years as further research has been conducted.

Sam Pruitt is an endurance athlete and life and business coach. At the age of 30, her mind and body broke after over a decade of high stress and poor lifestyle choices. She began running and started losing an excess 50lbs and with this newfound energy, she started testing her limits and endurance events - from local 5Ks to ultra. along the way, she built a community of people who are looking to play hard and dream big!

Megan currently works full-time in healthcare. She loves podcasts, cooking, rock climbing, mountains, coffee, and dogs!

Amelia Boone is a full-time corporate attorney, obstacle racer, and ultrarunner. Dubbed “The Queen of Pain,” Coach Amelia is a 4x world champion and one of the most decorated obstacle racers in history. Over her career, she’s amassed more than 50 podiums and 30 victories in obstacle racing. When Amelia's not out on an obstacle course, you'll find her nurturing a budding ultra running obsession, working as a full-time attorney, or watching wrestling pay-per-views. Most likely with a box of Pop-Tarts or a bag of ketchup chips in hand.

On April 26, 2021, Chaski Coach and HOKA pro runner Emily Schmitz became the first woman to set an official Fastest Known Time (FKT) record in the country of Colombia, a country she’s called home for the last decade. She covered the nearly-50-mile route (well-known by cyclists but without an official running record) in 8 hours, 36 minutes, and 45 seconds. In this interview, Emily shared some thoughts on the route, training in Colombia during the pandemic, and how the big day went.
